Thanks to the winter weather it took a couple of weeks before we were able to return to the airfield but on February 16th, we were able to check on G-DDYR before the start of the gliding day.
The air frame is in good order considering that it was abandonned at the back of a hangar for 3+ years. The instruments and wings were sold off. The rest of the air frame is there. Someone’s obviously scavenged parts from the tail as the fabric was cut cleanly. This isn’t a problem for us. The seats are both present. The controls are intact apart from a little more rust. The air frame needs a good cleanup.
So our project could work: turn the old 2-seater air frame into 2 discrete simulators. Let’s go!
